Stage 1 & Stage 2 Remap – More Power From Your Engine

With a professional Stage 1 or Stage 2 remap you get noticeably more power and torque from your car – individually tuned instead of an off-the-shelf file. B&R Chiptuning has been optimising ECU and TCU software for more than 15 years and supports over 1,500 file customers.

Basics

What is a Stage remap?

“Stage” describes the level of your performance upgrade. A Stage 1 remap is a pure software optimisation on the standard hardware. Stage 2 builds on it and uses additional hardware to unlock more potential. Both stages are tuned individually to the engine, gearbox and condition of your vehicle.

Stage 1 remap – the software optimisation

With a Stage 1 ECU remap we optimise the engine control unit without changing any hardware. Maps for injection, boost pressure and ignition are adjusted precisely. The result: more power and torque, noticeably sharper throttle response and – depending on your driving style – sometimes even lower fuel consumption.

  • Ideal for turbocharged petrol engines (TFSI/TSI) and turbo diesels
  • No hardware changes needed – also possible from home with the OBD customer flasher (German page)
  • Best value for money as an entry point

Stage 2 remap – software plus hardware

Stage 2 is the next step for everyone who wants more. The software is matched to additionally installed hardware – for example a downpipe, sports catalytic converter, intake or a larger intercooler. This lets the engine move more air, and the remap unlocks considerably more than Stage 1.

  • Requirement: suitable hardware is installed – parts are available in our tuning parts shop (German)
  • Calibrated exactly to your setup – maximum power with controlled load
  • For workshops also fully available through our fileservice

Process

How a Stage remap works at B&R Chiptuning

Whether directly with us, through your workshop, by sending in your ECU or conveniently with the OBD customer flasher: we read the ECU software, optimise it individually and write the finished file back. As a fileservice we also supply dealers and workshops with ready-to-use tuning files – including file check and tune file database.

Registration & safety

Our remaps are designed for durability and stay within safe tolerances. In Germany a power increase has to be registered for road use. Whether a parts certificate or an individual inspection is possible for your vehicle depends on the car – we advise you beforehand, including what you should report to your insurance.
