Bosch MDG1 · VAG, Porsche & BMW

In-house MDG1 Unlock

We now unlock protected Bosch MDG1 ECUs ourselves – by EMP glitch, without removing the circuit board and without sending the unit to a third party. Afterwards we back up, tune and write the software right here.

Platforms

One platform, many manufacturers.

Diesel (MD1) or petrol (MG1): what matters is the processor, hardware and protection level. We handle Bosch MDG1 ECUs with Infineon Aurix TC298 and TC299 in-house.

Technology

Why EMP glitch?

Bosch protects the MDG1 generation so that reading and writing via classic bench or boot methods is blocked. Until now this often meant shipping the ECU, waiting for an external unlock, or removing and soldering the circuit board.

With the EMP glitch, a precisely timed electromagnetic pulse briefly disturbs the processor. At exactly that moment, access is unlocked. The ECU only needs to be opened – the board stays in its housing, nothing is soldered and no component is removed.

After the one-time unlock, the ECU can be read, backed up and written with the tuned software in bench mode as usual.

Process

From protected ECU to finished tune.

  1. 01

    Identify the ECU

We check ECU ID, processor, hardware, software and protection level. Only then do we confirm the unlock.

  2. 02

    Back up the original

Flash, EEPROM and all relevant memory areas are fully backed up – the original state can be restored at any time.

  3. 03

    EMP glitch unlock

One-time unlock via the EMP glitch access matching the processor, without removing the board.

  4. 04

    Tuning & test

Individual software optimisation, controlled writing in bench mode and a final check on the vehicle.

Supported ECUs

These MDG1 ECUs we unlock.

Bosch MDG1 with Infineon Aurix TC298 and TC299. The list grows with every new protocol – your ECU is not listed? Ask anyway, in some cases a mail-in unlock is possible.

Naming

MD1, MG1 or MDG1?

MD1 stands for Bosch diesel ECUs, MG1 for petrol. MDG1 is the umbrella term for the shared ECU platform. The full ID – such as MD1CS004 or MG1CS011 – together with the processor and hardware version (e.g. H80) determines which unlock route fits.

Model and year alone are not enough: a manufacturer software update or a replaced ECU can change the protection level. That is why we identify every ECU before confirming an unlock.

The vehicles listed are examples. What counts is always the ECU ID, processor, hardware and software version. Performance tuning can affect type approval, emissions, manufacturer warranty and component durability.
